Bunker builds are becoming increasingly common lately in tPvP. More and more I’m seeing players’ builds gravitate to one extreme of glass cannon burst or complete tank bunker. So when I first sat down to try and make a good Sword/Dagger Thief build (I first started looking at it because so many Thieves have dismissed it as far weaker than Dagger/Dagger or Sword/Pistol, mostly due to the mediocrity of Flanking Strike compared to Pistol Whip or the Dagger mainhand’s Heartseeker and backstab) I was really pleased to find that I was able to make a build that was incredibly effective at disrupting bunker builds (also effective against non-bunkers but it’s nice to be able to throw a wrench in a carefully played Bunker’s plans).

I went ahead and made a build guide video on a neat bunker engineer build one of my guildmates made. He has an extensive, well-written post on his site at http://www.barrowdev.com/?p=562
It’s a really neat build and quite fun to play. Really high learning curve though. Rewatching that video I see so many things I could have done differently to do even better (particularly I need to work on using the Rifle even more; and even more particularly using Overcharged Shot just to clear off immobilize which is a big killer against me).
Hey, just quickly posting up my latest video.
In the first half of the video I present to you some insight into how I’be been designing my builds. I explain the thought process I go through when I make builds myself, as well as give some general tips for build creation.
In the latter half of the video I go through the process of designing a fun sounding (and as far as I know, somewhat original) condition and control focused build for the Warrior profession. I go through the whole thought process I went through when I first made the build, although at a much faster pace for the sake of the video.
Was hoping to get more videos done before launch but been quite busy last few days; will still try to do that Necro one in the next few hours but I have a lot of other work I need to do. If I can’t finish it before launch then I might just hold off and do it a bit after launch with footage from the launch build rather than the beta one.
Just a quick post to say that I did a tournament gameplay breakdown of one of the first tourney games I tried the Rifle Grenadier build in. Not the most amazing gameplay but hopefully more informative than a complete stomp or one where I just guard a point for most of the match =p. Was a fun/scrappy game anyway.
Should have a few more videos coming up before launch (I hope; wedding prep emergencies keep coming up from time to time so there’s always something delaying me lately).
During BWE3 I came up with an exciting SP/SD Thief build that focused on great control and mobility (specifically evasion) utilizing the “Trap” class utility skills. Check the following videos for some clips of it in action along with detailed analysis on several situations I found myself in while playing with it. This time I decided to try splitting the videos up into a Basics video that has a lot more detail about the weapon and utility skills being used as well as a separate Advanced Tricks video that goes into some neat tactics I was using last beta weekend as well as a more detailed discussion on the strengths and weaknesses of the build.

I’ve been brainstorming build ideas with my guildmates for a bit now and thought I’d share some of the ones I’ve come up with. Note that anything I label as “Idea Phase” is untested and might be broken; that said, feel free to share your thoughts on the builds and maybe we can come up with some awesome stuff. With that said, let’s look at what I call, “The Warhorse” aka “That guy you’re going to have to revive a lot since he keeps jumping into battle.”
There are a lot of support/control WvW builds floating around so I thought I’d try my hand at a build that’s meant to be supported. If I tried this build it’d be with an open mind that it might fail horribly but at least we could see how viable it could be to actually get into the fray and swing your weapon around. This is DEFINITELY NOT a solo-roaming build nor even one you necessarily want to just run when you’re part of a zerg (though almost anything works there). It’s meant for small, disruptive groups like those my guild plans to run around WvW with.

Hey guys; I’ve been getting caught up with some work this past week but am starting to get going on my next videos. Here’s what I’ve got planned coming up before launch (maybe I’ll come up with something else too):
- Build Guides for an Evasive Trap/Trick Thief build and a Support Guardian build and .
- Rifle Grenadier Tournament Game commentary (more traditional commentary but emphasis on what abilities my team/the enemy team are using and why; also how our builds affect the fights).
- Commentary on a Team Paradigm game from Moldran’s POV; it’s a pretty close game due to some disconnects on TP’s part but there’s some neat fights that I can break down.
- General Guides
- How I come up with builds
- Some tips and tricks videos for PvP
I’ll probably start with the Thief build guide tomorrow but let me know what in here interests you guys so that I can try to prioritize based on that.
